With this milestone, all three next-generation Citation light jets — the CJ4 Gen3, CJ3 Gen3 and M2 Gen3 — have entered flight testing, demonstrating continued momentum across the Cessna next-generation light jet portfolio.

Taking off from Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, pilots Steve Helmer and Dave Wellbrock focused on testing software functionality in the cockpit during the initial nearly two-hour flight. The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 41,000 feet and a maximum speed of 278 knots indicated.

“From takeoff to landing, the aircraft demonstrated the handling qualities and system performance we expected,” said Helmer, flight test pilot. "This first flight validated months of preparation and provided a strong foundation as we expand testing and continue the certification program."

ST. PAUL, Minn. (June 19, 2026) — The 2026 Special Olympics Airlift officially took flight today as all participating Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker aircraft, known as Doves, departed from airports across the country. Dove 1 for arrival day, a Cessna Citation Latitude generously operated by Prent Corporation, landed at St. Paul Downtown Airport (STP) carrying Special Olympic athletes and delegation members, signaling the start of Airlift arrivals for the Special Olympics USA Games.

The arrival signals the start of the world’s largest cumulative peacetime airlift spanning more than 40 years, a coordinated aviation effort organized by Textron Aviation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, that transports hundreds of Special Olympics athletes and coaches from multiple states to compete on the national stage. Throughout the day, approximately 130 aircraft will arrive at STP in a carefully orchestrated operation with aircraft landing every three to four minutes.

The Special Olympics Airlift mobilizes volunteer pilots and aircraft from across the country who donate their time and resources in support of the Airlift. Now in its ninth year, the initiative has transported over 10,000 athletes and coaches to Special Olympics events, giving them a first-class experience ahead of the competition. Pilots, crew members and ground teams launched departures Friday morning from 26 locations nationwide including Grand Rapids, Houston, Nashville, Orlando, Phoenix and Washington, D.C., each hosting sendoff celebrations as local communities bid farewell to their Special Olympics delegations traveling to Minnesota for the Special Olympics USA Games.

Most Delivered Light-Entry Jet Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 With Garmin Autothrottles Enters Into Service, Bringing Greater Control And Precision To Pilots

The Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 with Garmin Autothrottles recently entered into service. Certified by the Federal Aviation Administration in October 2025, the integration of Garmin’s Autothrottle system in the Citation M2 Gen2 further supports the most delivered light-entry jet’s capabilities by bringing greater control and precision to pilots.

The addition of Garmin Autothrottles to the M2 Gen2 assists the pilot throughout the flight and provides protections against over- and under-speed conditions. Autothrottle technology allows pilots to focus on a variety of operation-critical activities in the cockpit, providing them smoother transitions and greater control throughout the entire flight operation.

The M2 Gen2 features premium interior styling, ambient accent lighting, illuminated cupholders and an optional folding side-facing seat that converts into additional cargo storage. Cessna Citation Ascend Achieves Faa Certification, Bringing Advanced Features To The Most Popular Midsize Business Jet Family

WICHITA, Kan. (Nov. 6, 2025) – The Cessna Citation Ascend, designed and manufactured by Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, achieved a major milestone Wednesday, November 5, as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded type certification for the aircraft, with entry into service expected later this year. The aircraft boasts an entirely new cockpit, improved performance and luxurious flat floor cabin, giving customers versatility and flexibility to accomplish their mission. Two flight test articles completed more than 1,000 flight hours and numerous certification tests to achieve FAA certification.

An unattended Honeywell RE100 [XL] Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) with self-management and added bleed leak detection allows pilots to prepare for every flight efficiently, including heating and cooling the cabin with less fuel and less noise.

An aircraft that lets customers do more

The Citation Ascend lets customers do more in the cabin, allowing them to enjoy many luxuries found in the bestselling Cessna Citation Latitude and flagship Cessna Citation Longitude such as a flat floor to provide a new level of generous legroom and flexibility for passengers. The aircraft can be configured for up to 12 passengers. 

With an advanced acoustic treatment system, passengers can engage in conversations, work or relax in an environment free of distractions, as cabin sound levels are similar to that of driving a car down the highway. The aircraft boasts all-new cabin windows that are approximately 15% larger and offer more natural light into the cabin with translucent and opaque shade settings and optional lighted window rings.

All crew and passengers have access to at least one charging port with 19 standard USB charging ports and three universal outlets throughout the aircraft, in addition to first-in-class wireless phone charging. Customers can wirelessly control the cabin lighting, temperature, window shades and onboard entertainment, and the Bongiovi immersive sound system is another option to further enhance the onboard experience.

To keep customers connected at all times, the Ascend includes standard GoGo U.S. Avance L3 Max Wi-Fi and optional U.S. Avance L5 Wi-Fi. Customers can also select Gogo Galileo HDX for Wi-Fi and worldwide calling.
